What Wallpaper Really Costs in Ghana
There is no single price for wallpaper, and anyone who quotes you a flat rate before seeing the wall is guessing. The cost is two things added together: the material (priced per roll or per square metre) and the installation (priced on the wall after a survey). This guide gives honest, indicative material ranges and explains exactly what drives the installation figure — so you can budget realistically before we ever measure.
Wallpapers Ghana has supplied and installed wallcoverings across Accra since 1985. The numbers below are indicative retail ranges, not quotes.
Material Cost by Type — Indicative ₵/Roll
| Wallcovering | Indicative cost | Priced by | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vinyl | ~₵50–100/roll | Roll | Hallways, kids’ rooms, humid walls |
| Non-woven | ~₵80–150/roll | Roll | Living rooms, bedrooms |
| 3D / waterproof paper | ~₵60–65/roll | Roll | Budget feature walls |
| Textile / grasscloth | ~₵200–400/roll | Roll | Master bedrooms, statement walls |
| 3D wall panels | from ~₵180/sqm | Square metre | Sculpted media and feature walls |
A standard wallpaper roll typically covers a defined area before pattern-match waste — your wall area and the pattern repeat determine how many rolls you actually need, which the survey calculates.
These are material prices only. They do not include preparation, pasting, hanging, trimming or snagging.
What Installation Depends On
Installation is quoted on a free wall survey because the same roll can be quick or costly to hang depending on the wall. The variables:
Wall area and number of rolls
More square metres means more material and more labour. A single feature wall is a fraction of a full room.
Wall condition and preparation
A clean, sound, painted wall is quick. A wall with old paper to strip, cracks to fill, or damp to address adds preparation time — and preparation is where wallpaper succeeds or fails.
Pattern match and waste
A large or directional repeat wastes more material at each drop, so a bold pattern can need noticeably more rolls than a plain texture covering the same wall.
Access and detail
Wall height, scaffolding or ladders, and the number of switches, sockets, windows and cornices to cut around all add careful labour.
Why “Lower-Priced” Isn’t Always Lower-Cost Over Time
A lower-priced roll hung on an unprepared wall is a false economy — it lifts at the seams within a season and has to be redone. The durable result comes from correct wall preparation, sizing and seam work, matched to a wallcovering whose washability suits the room. Spending a little more on the right material and proper preparation almost always costs less across the wall’s life than redoing a rushed job.
A Realistic Budgeting Approach
- Decide the scope — one feature wall, or full rooms? This changes the budget more than the material choice.
- Pick the material band — vinyl and non-woven for everyday rooms; textile and 3D panels for statement walls.
- Add preparation honestly — if the wall has old paper or damp, budget for the prep that makes the finish last.
- Book the survey — the firm installation price follows the measure, never before it.

Standards and Honesty Note
Wallpaper carries no single performance standard or certificate — its quality is described qualitatively by the manufacturer’s substrate, washability and fire-class ratings on the roll. 3D wall panels are rated by their manufacturer. We match the product’s rating to your room rather than cite a standard the paper does not hold. That honesty extends to price: we will not quote installation until we have seen the wall.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does wallpaper cost per roll in Ghana?
Indicative retail per roll: vinyl ~₵50–100, non-woven ~₵80–150, 3D/waterproof ~₵60–65, textile ~₵200–400. 3D wall panels are priced by area, from about ₵180/sqm. Installation is quoted separately on survey.
Why won’t you give an installation price over the phone?
Because the same roll is quick or costly to hang depending on wall area, condition, pattern match and access. A flat phone rate would be a guess. The free survey produces a firm price.
Is a single feature wall much lower-priced than a whole room?
Yes — a feature wall uses a fraction of the material and labour of a full room, which is why it is such a popular way to get a statement finish on a modest budget.
Does a lower-priced roll save money?
Only if the wall is properly prepared. A lower-priced roll on an unprepared wall lifts and has to be redone, costing more overall. The right material plus correct preparation is the real economy.
